Steam Roulette started when I was a CS student at Radford University, looking to freshen up on my ruby web development skills. I had a lot of free time to kill when I was at home for my summer internship, so I decided to come up with my own web app. I love Steam, and spend way too much money on it, and I was always randomly deciding what I wanted to play. That made me think, 'Maybe other people are doing the same thing?' The site is a Sinatra App hosted on Heroku, using Twitter Bootstrap for styling and PostgreSQL for the backend game caching. It uses the Steam Community API to populate its game lists, scrapes the Steam Store pages for game information, and uses steampowered.com's openid to power the login system.
If you have any questions about the site, have any suggestions, or just want to tell me how great/awful Steam Roulette is, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
